Stability:
Obviously, in order to be considered fit for recreation a kayak needs to be very stable for different people in various environments and applications.

Ease of Use:
Anybody can paddle a W Kayak and have fun doing so.  You don't need to spend years practicing difficult paddle strokes or Eskimo rolling, and you don't need to know how to use a rudder that complicates your life just because kayaks track poorly. The W Kayak tracks and maneuvers well without a rudder.
Unlike canoes and kayaks, the W Kayak requires no special maneuvers when putting in or taking out, and in most cases not even to step in water.

Tracking:
Children can't paddle sea kayaks and they can't activate rudders, which are already complicated for many adults. Sadly, recreational monohull kayaks track poorly and make the child's paddling experience a difficult and frustrating one.

Standing:
Interestingly, whenever children feel they need more paddling power they stand up in their W kayaks. It's easy to understand why since in the standing position they can better use their body weight to generate effective power. Similarly, children tend to pedal their bikes standing when going uphill or racing.

Tandem:
Children as young as five year old can start paddling a W kayak in tandem on flat water. Paddling in tandem requires discipline and cooperation between the paddlers as well as some advanced paddling skills. Therefore, having kids paddle in tandem is a highly constructive experience.
Also, it's not always possible to have a boat at the disposition of every child, and paddling in tandem is a practical solution coupled with fun.

Excitement:
It's essential to fun. -A children's kayak should offer exciting activities, not just monotonous and limited ones.  This is why a children's kayak should be fast, unlike most recreational canoes and kayaks, and it should also offer activities that don't confine the child to flat water.
