The new W Kayak Design

What's New?

The new design we introduced in 2008 has been a resounding success with our customers.
Still, we managed to introduce a small improvement to it this year: The 2009 models feature six holes in the top of their cockpit rim. This increase in number allows for instant draining of all spray or rain water that your W kayak may have at the bottom of its hulls - Just overturn the boat once you've beached it
The additional holes provides you with extra comfortable attachment points for securing your camping or fishing gear. After all, this kayak offers more storage space than any other kayak, so you can carry all the stuff you need onboard.

The New Models' Standard Features Are:

	A lower, 4" high spray deflector with a wide, robust cockpit rim. This new, lower design makes entering the cockpit and getting out of it even easier than it was in the first generation of W kayaks. It also makes recovering the boat easier. The cockpit opening is 2" longer, which offers more space onboard for a second passenger. With this new spray deflector a 200 lb passenger benefits from the protection of 13" of freeboard.
F4 Model	Advantages for fishing: The redesigned, lower spray deflector makes it easier to land the biggest fish inside the cockpit. Once dropped in the bottom of the 6" wide and 18" deep hull even the most combative fish would find it impossible to slip back out.
	Preparation for cockpit cover: The new models features a preparation for a cockpit cover including 10 lashing hooks, 4 tie downs (eyelets) and a bungee cord all around the cockpit. This unique system enables covering the cockpit entirely for travel and camping. It also enables partial covering when paddling and fishing in bad weather or while surf paddling, going in whitewater etc. You can use any waterproof material you like for a cover, even transparent plastic.

New Paddling and Fishing Positions
The lower and sturdier spray deflector enables easier entry, easier getting out, easier re-entry from deep water, and two new positions:


Riding-over A relaxed, semi static position for slow paddling and fishing - for one or two passengers. Read more	Side-saddle A static position that's great for fishing, resting and cooling down. Read more

New, Versatile, Easy To Use Cockpit Cover System

You can change configurations easily and in very little time: Just insert the cover over the lashing hooks and secure it with the bungee cord.

Basic Configurations:

	I. Full Cover This configuration can serve when the kayak is car topped and you don't want rain to get in, or when you're camping and you want to store gear and food in it.
	II. High Cover This configuration works well when you're paddling in the back part of the cockpit, such as when surf launching.
	III. Half Skirt, or 'Apron' This configuration is practical for paddling or fishing when you're located in the center of the cockpit - in bad weather and/or water conditions. The excess material can be rolled forward or pulled against you for extra protection. In this setting you can hook the bungee on the cockpit sides.

-Does the new design perform better under wind now that its spray deflector is two inches lower?

The old W Kayak kayak models were never prone to windage problems to begin with. Therefore, the effect of this change may not even be perceptible, and as usual, W kayakers will enjoy paddling and fishing on days when other kayak paddlers and fishermen prefer to stay at home.

-What else is new?

In the new W kayak models we're using new, improved carry handles in all our models.
Each handle is attached to the hull tip by 4 aluminum rivets.

Side Floatation

Detachable side floatation modules with integrated bungee cord.

The Effect of Side Floatation

Side floatation helps preventing your W Kayak from rolling over in case you capsized it.
It can also help the boat right itself without your assistance.
In case your W Kayak overturned the side floatation makes it float higher, helps preventing water from getting in, and makes it easier for you to roll it back and recover it. Read More

Folding Anchors

Anchors for our fishing kayaks:
The F2 and F4 models are equipped with a 1.5 lb folding anchor, standard.
The F2E and F4E models are equipped with a 3.5 lb folding anchor, standard.

All anchors come with a 35' long 1/4" diameter Polypropylene rope.
Rope colors: Yellow or Black.

W 'Canoe'

Those who paddle our W kayaks using canoe paddles have found that it's a great solo canoe, and an excellent tandem canoe for lightweight passengers.
It's also great for stand up canoeing.

We are offering The Mohawk Double Blade 2 Pieces paddle with a T-Grip Adapter Set that you can use to turn it into 2 regular canoe paddles.
